Slovakia is one of the Central & Eastern European
countries that have recently joined the European Union. Its capital, Bratislava,
is situated on the south-west tip of
the country and is only a 35- minutes drive away from Vienna.
|
This compact capital city has undergone extensive renovation in the last
five years. Located on the Danube, Bratislava's old town is fully
pedestrianised and full of pubs, restaurants and nightclubs.
|
| The city has a relaxed atmosphere without
the overwhelming tourist crowds experienced in Prague and everything is
within walking distance of the numerous pubs, good quality restaurants,
extensive nightlife, castles, museums, theatres and renovated baroque
palaces.
|

|
There are none of the associated problems that plague larger cities,
transfers to and from the airports are quick and convenient, the tourist
crowds are not overwhelming, the locals are friendly, there is a very
relaxed feel about the place and the prices are lower than most European
capital cities.
